Most drivers feel well-protected from the sun, but many do not realise that although a car's clear side windows block most of the UV-B radiation which causes sunburns, they only filter out about 37% of UV-A radiation which penetrates more deeply into the skin, causing premature ageing and wrinkling, and can lead to skin cancer. Window tinting is a popular option to increase the level of protection but this practice isn't encouraged by the RACV. A number of people have asked why the Joopy Sun Shade has such a unique shape and that's a great question! When driving in the city, you are sometimes stopped close to a traffic light or street sign, so for a clear view looking diagonally upwards, the Sun Shade does not extend to the front of the window. The car's sun visor can be flipped over to the side window to provide shading at this spot if needed.The Sun Shade's angled leading edge and large rounded corner also helps minimise buffeting by the wind when the window is open.
